Cannot login this ac with steam client. I played without steam before. But now downloaded RS with steam and cannot login with this account... Does it mean i can never play RS with steam? Can i transfer my characters to my steam account?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Every time I open the launcher it downloads 13 files and then when I click start game I get an error "Failed to patch redstone.exe". I had this installed before and I of course played it but deleted it after I found out I don't need to use steam and can just use their client. I just want to log on to my character and get whatever I can off of it but I can't get past this error no matter what I try. Someone plz help.
